Is Google Instant a Whole new Approach to SEO

Google Instant is the new buzz word that’s going around in the world search engine optimization. As the name suggests, Google Instant offers you the benefit of instant results when it comes the most likely searches.

It can save around 2-5 seconds on your search time. So, the question is – What is going to be the impact of Google Instant on search engine optimization and the world of web marketing? Though it’s too early to have a clear idea of its impact, there is no doubt that it is going to have an effect on the way people search for information on the web.

Thorough keyword research

If it’s going to be fast and accurate, it’s going to put a lot of importance on keywords. Google Instant is going to put a lot of emphasis on keyword research. It needs to be thorough as Google Instant uses common keyword suggestions as its primary driving force.

So, users can look at related or even probable keywords when they are keying in their own specific keyword or key phrase. Experts believe that the keywords suggested by Google might become great traffic diverters and make the most difference as far as search engine rankings are concerned.

For webmasters

Let’s face it. Webmasters are not going to have it easy when it comes to optimizing a site for Google Instant. When a person is typing a search query on Instant, the search engine is going to publish the immediate results of the likely searches.

In such cases, a user has two options – He/She can go through the various results projected by Google; on the other hand, he can keep continuing with his/her search. The first option is likelier to be chosen, especially if the search query has a long tail keyword.

This means webmasters have their work cut out for them. Once search engine users catch on to the idea of keyword suggestions by Google instant, webmasters will need to thoroughly research the keyword that they choose and make sure that the probable keywords are going to be effective.

Right now Google Instant is a work in progress. It’s a wait and watch policy, but complacence needs to be avoided.
